[...] The first author interview of this series was with Joe R. Lansdale. Before then, and up to now, he’s been one of my favorite writers. His stuff is insightful, gritty, poignant, witty, and utterly unflinching–and at times, downright twisted. He’s written novels, short stories, screenplays, stage plays, comics, and who knows what else. [...]

Hi Frank,
It's great to hear that you enjoyed the story. This is a case of the story being as long as it needed to be. I couldn't cut anything to make it a short story, and to stretch out the end would have reduced the punch.
This is one of my favorite stories. I enjoyed writing Eddie and Joy and their crystal-clear voices in my head. Wait, did I just say voices in my head?
I could say more but there might be spoilers! ;)
Maybe if there's enough fan feedback, I'll write a follow-up.
Cheers!

Hello Travis,

I just read Snakes. I was blown away. Great characters, original story. My only problem was, why a novella. I would have loved to see where you would have taken these characters.

I read this without noting the date, so in my head this was where you were still at. If you were still unpublished, I would have offered whatever advice, contacts and feedback I had to offer. As it is, it sounds like you don't need any help from me!

I appreciate that. I've come a hell of a long way since then. With another novel published since then, a real agent, a damn good one, a ton of contacts in the publishing industry, and a growing number of published short stories, I feel like my writing career is very much back on track. I haven't 'made it' by any means, but all the misfortune and anguish was part of the path that brought me this far.

Dude, I know exactly how you feel. I did eventually make it myself, but sometimes I think it was through pure luck. Either way I have an agent and several publishers, and thank gods, when I was young(er) and naive(er?) and a shady agent tried to take advantage of me, my parents stopped me from letting her!

Anyway, I know I've come (very) late to the party, but if things haven't changed for you I'm willing to lend a hand in any way I can. Just let me know!

I heard the first chapter of Soulless on Down from Ten and bought it, I am now going to be picking up the Heart of the Ronin book after listening to it on Podiobooks.

Keep podcasting; it gets geeks like me into it anyway!

Awesome work guys, both of you.

(Even though I have READ Soulless, I would still like to hear it podcasted in it's entirety!!!)
