New BattleTech Fiction in Shrapnel #2!

Lo and behold! My novella “Daybreak on Shining Mountain” just appeared this week in Issue #2 of Shrapnel: The Official BattleTech Magazine. I played BattleTech WAAAYY back in 80s and 90s. It’s one of tabletop wargaming’s most venerable properties, as well as having done some amazing video game renditions in recent years, so it’s a thrill to write some fiction for it. “Daybreak on Shining Mountain” is about a lost, forgotten colony, way out on the galactic periphery, going about their business, waiting for some sort of contact with the rest of human civilization. Their FTL communications are down. It takesContinue readingNew BattleTech Fiction in Shrapnel #2!

Where the Devil Resides – Shockfest Official Selection

Just this morning, I received an email that my horror feature screenplay Where the Devil Resides was just named an Official Selection at the Shockfest Film Festival. *cue happy dance!* What does this mean? Well, I get to add another laurel to the poster below. Maybe on November 13, it will win Best Screenplay. Maybe if I get enough of these, the right people will pay attention when I call them. Stay tuned. 🙂

Adventure Kids #6 – Preston and the Great Airship Caper

I really enjoy writing books for middle-grade. It lets my imagination fly like it did when I was eleven.  I just released the sixth book in my Adventure Kids series, Preston and the Great Airship Caper. Because who didn’t want to fly like Superman or Supergirl when they were a kid? Look! Up in the sky! Preston loves taking care his family’s farm animals, especially the little ones, like puppies and kittens. But when all the animals suddenly disappear, he realizes there must be some serious skulduggery afoot!Being turned into a superhero isn’t what he was expecting today, but a dusting ofContinue readingAdventure Kids #6 – Preston and the Great Airship Caper

STRAIGHT OUTTA DEADWOOD Rides Again!

This time in mass market paperback! I’m super-proud of my short story “Blood Lust and Gold Dust” in Baen Books’ weird western anthology, Straight Outta Deadwood, even more so now that the mass market paperback has hit the streets. I was so happy to take part in the Baen Podcast recently with several of the authors from the anthology. When the episode goes live, I’ll be sure to post a link. Great fun with authors Charlaine Harris (I really enjoyed HBO’s True Blood and her Sookie Stackhouse novels), D.J. Butler, Betsy Dornbusch, and editor David Boop. First there was Straight Outta Tombstone.  NowContinue readingSTRAIGHT OUTTA DEADWOOD Rides Again!
